Ode to a Silly Boy

How do I even begin to describe Eli? He has to be one of the silliest boys I have ever known. He is constantly making me laugh so hard I think my sides will burst! Every picture he takes, he has a goofy face. I love this little guy more than I can say. He is always coming up with some sort of off the wall comment.
Last week he very seriously came to me and said "Mom, I really want to have an imaginary friend. I'm just not seeing any around!" I laughed, then realized he was pretty serious. When I explained what exactly an imaginary friend is, his response was "Well, that doesn't sound very fun at all. I think I'll stick with real ones for now."
I love how the mind of children work. He is very observant and always stating the obvious (which sometime I overlook) He was riding his bike with no shoes and scraped up his feet. As I was cleaning his feet and putting bandaids on a few scratches I commented to him "I bet you won't do that again." The wise 5 year old replied "Duh Mom, I already did it and learned my lesson!" :)
We love our Eli. He is such a patient and kind older brother to Emma. He earned a Gummi Krabby Patti for picking up rocks at school. He was so proud of earning this treat. When he went to open it in the car, Emma asked for some. He told her to wait until we got home and he would share it. He held it for the half hour drive home. Then I had to precisely cut it down the middle with a knife and he shared half it with his sister. What a kind hearted boy he is!
I just had to post a bit about him. I feel like as the third boy, with a baby sister, he is sometimes lost of the shuffle of busy life. I always try to take the time to listen to him and make him realize how special he is to all of us. We love you Eli!
