Camp Invention

This was Ethan's space suit. They landed on planet ZAK and had to survive. They made shelters, space suits, a new rocket and had to figure out how to get food and water.

This is Andrew's space suit. His goggles protected him from the acid rain and the shelter from the storms. Each group had three kids and they worked together to survive the elements.

This was Sludge City. They created the city and then they had to work together to solve environmental problems. They built filters to clean out dirty water. Ethan said his group got the cleanest water out of it. Just not quite clean enough to drink!

The older group of kids got to take apart machines and their task was to build something that would crack an egg open. Ethan's group not only cracked an egg, but flung it across the room! Very effective.

Here is Ethan with his egg cracking machine.

Andrew's group used the things they took apart to make a robot. This was their robot. You could open his head to see his brain. He also had a mouth with a tongue that would stick out. Awesome job!

Here is Andrew with his amusement park invention. He called it the Ben Tenimator. As an homage to his favorite show :) It would bounce you up and fling you to the sky. Whoa, a little to wild for me!

Each group worked together to build roller coasters. Ethan's group built one with a few loops in it. They used marbles to roll down and had to get them to stay in the tracks.

Ethan and Cole's amusement park ride. It was called "Ch-Ch Poo". You rode in the bullets in their guns. You would shoot out at high speed and it was connected to a bungee cord that would pull you back.

This past week Ethan and Andrew have gone to Camp Invention at their school. It is a summer program designed to help kids learn more about science and inventing. They had a great experience. They had so much fun working with friends and taking old things apart to make new things. I am so glad they went. It was perfect for my little science minded boys!!!
